Oracle Linux 6.2 installation on VMWare workstation 9.0.3

Installing Oracle Linux 6.2 on VMWare workstation

Hostmachine is windows server 2008 R2
VMWare version 9.0.3

Oracle Linux 6.2

Insert CD into the drive and start installation.

Step : 1

Step :2

Select language…..

 

Step 3:

Select Basic Storage Devices

  

 

Step 4:

Make sure that device is blank. Click on Discard any data.

  

           

Step 5:

Type hostname to this workstation.

  

 

Step:6

Select time zone

  

   

Step 7:

Type root password.

 

Step 8:

Select option according to your system configuration.

Step 9:

Click on Write changes to disk

 

 

 

Step 10:

Select Basic server , if you want to customize  now itself …then click on customize now radio button or  you can customize later by using software management application.

I am going with customize now…..

 

For each tab there will be sub tabs .

Select the packages you want to install along with server.

After that in next step it will check dependency for the selected packages…….

 

 

Your installation process will start from here…….

Selected packages will install in this step.

Select necessary packages what you want, by selecting unnecessary packages it will take more disk space and it will give negative impact on server.

After installation of these packages system will ask for reboot.

After rebooting  it will prompt for user creation.

Just give  user name (as your wish) : Oracle

Password(as your wish) :Oracle

And confirm the password again.

And your Oracle Linux desktop is ready………..on VM WorkStation
